BOARDMANS LAUNCHES ITS WINTER COLLECTION IN STYLE

IMG_4498 copy.jpgIMG_4468.jpg

I was invited to the  Boardmans new winter collection this afternoon and I’m obsessed with their new collection!

Your winter home worries will soon be a thing of the past. Homeware specialist, Boardmans, recently launched their winter campaign that’s geared to make your home equally cosy and stylish this winter. The launch, attended by handpicked home décor  enthusiasts,  was  set  to  the  backdrop  of  the  Parktown’s  leafy  suburbs  and  showcased a striking range of Boardmans’ latest products which become available in stores from March. “This season, we want to ensure that our consumers are well-equipped with the latest must-haves and are ready to take on winter with our exciting range of assortments. We aim to make sure that Boardmans not only becomes a brand that is synonymous with great  products,  but  also  a  first-choice  lifestyle  brand  supported  by  an  array  of  world  renowned products at great value,” comments Brand Manager Jillian Kay. Homeware décor maven Heather Boting hosted the launch and the attending home- style aficionados were given a personal tour around the private estate while exchanging tips on how to turn cold houses into cosy winter homes. Each room of the house presented a mood for the latest Boardmans trends to look forward to this winter. A few leanings became clear. Earthy and jewel tones constructed the season’s colour palette, while faux fur blankets and fleece throws are a huge trend this season and a definite winter must have. Whether layering them on the bed or using them as an accessory in the lounge, they’re sure to keep the family warm this winter. The sensory experience of winter at home was also a crucial talking point. Nothing says winter more than the aromas of hearty stews and delicious casseroles, which Boardmans’ casserole dishes and kitchenware help the homemaker serve up exquisitely.

The final thought which was commonly shared among the homeware experts was the idea of winter theatre and showcasing hosting skills by beautifying the dinner table and dining area with perfect-for-winter accessories. From the bathroom and bedroom to the living room, dining room, kitchen and beyond, Boardmans  is  ready  to  add  some  flair  to  your  home’s  winter  look  with  their  latest  collections that are ready to deliver a space that is stylishly inspired . Come and reinvent the cold season with Boardmans’ spectacular Winter 2017 homeware collection.

BMW Driving Experience: BMW South Africa

beemer day.jpgBMW-137.jpg

I went out with the BMW family yesterday to do my advanced driving course with 20 other phenomenal women in south africa, this included media personalties, entrepreneurs, curators basically strong, fabulous ladies.

BMW-85.jpg

BMW-136.jpg
I rode with Kefilwe Mabote and Tshego Manche, such fabulous ladies

BMW-130.jpg

with Diederik Reitsma:  General Manager, Group Communications BMW SA

I got to learn the theory of operating car dynamics with information from the world of motorsport using the BMW M3, after completing a few laps under the guidance of an instructor,I got to explore the optimum line around the bends on my own. It was such an exhilarating experience! Being able to fully command a such a powerful car around the  ZwartkopsRaceway Circuit. I was able  practice techniques for perfecting a wide range of driving manoeuvres, with the aim of attaining a tidy, reproducible driving style along the ideal line.

BMW-176.jpg

With the rains coming in heavy in the past few days I really enjoyed the collision avoidance & skid control course, I feel so much more confident taking on the wet roads.

I was able to compare how a vehicle behaves with and without the assistance of safety systems offered by BMW including Dynamic Stability Control and ABS. And learn the basic requirements for optimal vehicle control by adopting the correct seating position and steering technique. Most importantly I learned to handle critical situations through emergency braking applications and targeted braking together with lightning-fast evasive action when confronted by an obstacle, to avoid an impending collision safely. Thank you to 4elements Media for putting together such a fabulous day for the ladies.

Road safety is so important ladies, and it’s something I’m definitely going to be focusing more on with the cars I review. I have fabulous BMW national media launch coming up on the 25 to launch a brand new car in Cape Town, everything will be on my social media pages so make sure you’re following

SS17 Beauty Trends

607631130.jpgHi dolls! It’s been a while and I’m super excited to be back on my blog, I had to take a break due to health reasons but I’m back in full swing! I was at fashion week a few weeks back and I’m excited to share the beauty trends from the runway.

As Fashion Weeks go, Every year, New York Fashion Week sets the style and beauty trends for the upcoming season. Known for its often wild, always chic looks, this year’s Fashion Week didn’t disappoint, emphasizing everything from natural beauty, to stylish sophistication, to high-fashion drama and more.

Whilst clean skin and wash-and-go hair were present across the board during the spring/summer 2017  fashion week shows, the beauty trends that stood out and truly made their mark for me were brighter and bolder than ever. An abundance of glitter from Fendi to DKNY gave the shows a Fabulous I’m ready to take on Summer shimmer, whilst flashes of Eighties inspiration had a more-is-more charm that came into its element in the final days of Paris Fashion Week. And as for hair? Look to Guido Palau, who was responsible for some of the most dramatic transformations of the season. I’m currently totally obsessing over the pastel lip and easiest smokey eye to date!

I saw the same at our our very own SA Fashion Week it was filled with conceptual quirky colour and with Rimmel London as the sponsor it was a colour fest! The past five days have hit like an inspirational jolt. A new energy seemed to pulse through the city, pushing hair and makeup artists to dip into their kits with a fresh creative spirit, the hits kept coming—prismatic lids and transformative backstage cuts that brought youthful energy and playfulness to the fore while somehow managing to maintain a level of sleek Italian sophistication. Here, are some of my hair and makeup lessons to take from the week’s shows that are sure to breathe new life into your beauty routine. I’ll also show you some of my fave international runway looks from Fashion week across the globe  so here are my faves:

Moschino_Prada.jpg1. The wave of ’20s bobs, freshly sheared backstage at Prada by hairstylist Guido Palau, kick-started our collective desire for a chin-grazing cut, which, for the non-committal, also appeared in the form of cheeky Barbie-esque doll wigs at Moschino. Moschino never fails us

gallery-1473894899-delpozo-bks-i-rs17-4516.jpg

2. The easiest smokey eye to date! the colourful smokey eye with a nude palette it’s by far my fave ss17 beauty trend, it’s easy and gives you a fresh, glowing summer look. This smokey eye was spotted on the Marc Jacobs runway so sassy.

hilfiger-bks-i-rfw16-0005-320x480.jpg

3.Instagram’s “fleeky” brows saw no place on the fashion week runways. Makeup artists embraced the natural length of the models’ brows, flaring them upwards with brow gel to thicken and add depth to the face. No more overly structured brows and gel pots yaaaaaaay! seen  Tommy Hilfiger, MK, Narcisco Rodriguez and more.

VB-1.jpg

4. My fave “I’m a grown woman and can do whatever I like”trend was from our Fashion Muse Victoria beckham. Makeup mega-star Pat McGrath created 3 different looks for Victoria Beckham’s SS17 show using Victoria’s own makeup range with Estee Lauder. All of the models have beautiful luminous skin and lightly groomed brows with the focus on the eye. Blue, green or nude the look whichever of the looks the models had, each was non-geometrical and abstract. The blue eyes (seen here) were applied with fingers, the green shade with brush and the nude eye was a mix of two different shades; a soft brown and a taupey colour creating 3 very different styles.

nude-nails-embed.jpg

5. I’m obsessed with nude shades on my nails so you can imagine how excited I was to see nudes at Edon Choi. Spring/ summer 17’s love affair with neutral colours was present in the form of dark nude nails at Edon Choi. Matching the naturalness of the collection as a whole, the chosen varnish, Jessica Phenom in Cashmere Creme, has a mocha coloured finish. It gave the look a warm and relaxed feel, with a touch of understated glamour as a result of the brand’s high-shine finish.

trend1-urbangirl.jpg

The one thing that connects all of these looks? Skin. In all cases it’s clean, simple, fresh and not overly contrived, contoured or caked. It’s anti YouTube tutorial base make-up and it makes the shimmer and glitter look cool over kitsch. ‘The aim is to make it not look overly done,’ Pat told us. We can work with that.
